Orion Dolan is a senior here at Lake Region Union High School and he is pretty well known for being part of the school band. He has an incredible talent for saxophone, piano and several other jazz and blues instruments, and, about a year and a half ago, he started to produce his own music. 

“(My music) is a fusion between R&B and Jazz. I use R&B instruments as well as Jazz strings, using strings and piano” Orion said in an interview. “I try to put my feelings into the instruments to make it my own style.” 

According to Orion, he’s alway gravitated towards his style of music being chill and atmospheric and he’s able to implement that feeling into his instruments, really making that feeling apparent and being able to feel it just through the sounds of it. When he first started out making his music, he unfortunately ran into some issues, like his software not letting him save the work he had created during his free trial, but regardless, he was still able to create some masterpieces. 

When asked if he wanted to go anywhere or do anything with his production of music, he replied “I’m not really trying to make any accomplishments, more just creating it for people to be able to listen to it, like friends and family, and just put my feelings out into the world.” He also said “I’m making music to be able to make it. Put something I’m passionate about out there.” 

Even after all this, he doesn’t quite want to make this into a career, more so a side hobby. Orion did mention that “If I keep getting better and better and better, maybe it could turn into something down the line, but it isn’t what I want to do for a career.” 

So even if he doesn’t turn his music into a main career, what he’s made is some really amazing work that deserves support, even if it’s just checking it out.
