This past Monday the LR music department along with a few guest musicians put on a variety show with a New Orleans theme. The Irasburg town hall was full of Mardi Gras beads and almost all of the performers had fun headdresses. The program started out with some classic hymns done in a New Orleans style and the song “Mardi Gras in New Orleans”. The program then shifted to the select chorus who performed two songs. The Lake region house band performed Zombie by the Cranberries and Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, then in a slightly different house band arrangement they played Seven Nation Army, by the White Stripes and The Chain, by Fleetwood Mac. A series of solo and duet pieces were intermixed in the very fun and upbeat program. The variety show concluded with the Jazz band playing Freedom by Jon Batiste.
