Braiden Demers is a Lake Region junior, and a student like many of us however, he is currently in the running to become the student president of a North Country program. With the day of Demer’s speech approaching, he was interviewed about his current peculiar circumstance.
Ronan: How did all of this start for you?
Braiden: Well, at first it started off as a joke, you know, a dare from a friend, but now it’s become an actual campaign.
Ronan: And what are your goals for this campaign?
Braiden: I’d like to bring leadership to North Country and to help set up things like fundraisers and other beneficial things.
Ronan:How do you think the students of North Country and Lake Region will react?
Braiden:I figure that after my speech, the students at North country will have confidence in my leadership skills, and I guess the students at Lake Region will probably find my campaign amusing.
Ronan: What experience do you have?
Braiden: I have a year of FBLA experience where I ran for president of the club.
Ronan: How do you think this campaign is going to be different from your previous campaign?
Braiden: I have more experience as a candidate, so I think I’ll be able to win this election easier.
Ronan: Is there anyone you took inspiration from for this?
Braiden: William Jennings Byran.
Ronan: Do you think this is going to affect you at all?
Braiden: I do believe that it will take away time from my schoolwork, but I don’t think that will be much of a problem
The campaign may be a struggle for dermers, considering him being a student of Lake Region, having to win over students of North Country, both schools having a slight rivalry. However, Braiden has confidence that he will be able to win over the students of North Country with this program through the leadership skills that he brings to the table.
