With Disney’s new live-action remake of Snow White bombed at the box office. The movie’s budget of 270 million(not including marketing) has only grossed 143 million in global sales. Some of the blame can be put on the actor of Snow White, Rachael Ziegler, for she said at one point that the story and original film was “extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power.” Many movie fans are frustrated with Disney changing the original movie’s plot and modernizing it with new standards. Many questioning the decision to use CGI for the iconic dwarves. Most are outraged by the “modernization” of the story. While the original had elements that were sexist the new movie makes changes that are far too extreme, and take away from the magic of the movie. A better move for Disney would have been to not make the movie.
