On May 8th and 9th, Ms. Wolff took a group of LR freshmen and sophomores down to Groton, Connecticut, also known as the submarine capital of the world. The trip activities included testing Long Island Sound (LIS) for carbon levels, PH, temperature, light, density, and oxygen. In addition to the water testing, a net was thrown into the water to catch sea life, and another net was thrown into the water to catch plankton. The trip also included a short walk to a beach for additional tests. The trip also included a trip to the USS Nautilus museum, where a self-guided tour could be taken through the first-ever nuclear submarine. In all, the trip was great, and for students in the future who are eligible, many of this year’s attendees would recommend it.
