The Girls Varsity soccer team took on MVU on Wednesday for their home opener. Avery Hansen scored the game opener for Lake Region, assisted by Mya Patenaude, followed by Maeda Urie being assisted by Julie Gardner. MVU went scoreless in the first half. Avery Hansen in the second half scored two goals, completing the hat trick for the second game in a row. The first goal was assisted by Cadence Hansen, and the second by Maeda Urie. MVU would give a final effort with a single goal scored late by Addyson Longway, assisted by Addison Hogle. Liannila was in net for MVU and made 15 saves. LR had two goalies in net: Cadence Hansen in the first half and Nora Demaine in the second. Each made 3 saves a piece. Lake Region’s midfield showed up and played a crucial part in the game. Bella Hannover and Mya Patenaude were key for ball distribution and Maeda Uria, Tilly Veysey, and Bailey Danaher kept the pressure intense inside the 18. Lake Region is now 2-0 for the season. The next game takes place at home on Saturday against Oxbow.
