"Priceless" Crown Jewels Have Price Tag: $200

On the 19th of October, in broad daylight, eight priceless Napoleonic crown jewels were stolen from the Louvre. The eight jewels, including the tiara belonging to the wife of Napoleon III, are an iconic symbol of French history. After a nationwide search, 64 year old Maverick Baker of Kansas has recovered it. While “searching for good deals” on Facebook marketplace, he came across the pearl diamond Tiara of Empress Eugénie. He promptly bought the tiara, with unclear intentions, for $200. Thankfully, the thieves could be tracked down from Facebook Marketplace transactions.

“Well, I was hoping to sell it for a bit more,” the crime leader, who would temporarily like to remain anonymous, remarked to Shallot reporter. “But honestly, I wasn’t sure what to do with it once I got it. I couldn’t find anyone to sell it to, and I just wanted to get rid of it. Two hundred bucks is two hundred bucks. What I really wanted to rob was the ATM in the lobby, but the jewels were right there. I didn’t want to take them but some other people did, so it was a coin toss.” Despite the thieves complete cooperation with authorities, the other gems have not been traced down. He claims that he sold the rest of them in a local flea market for a tidy sum of $600.
