The Lake Region girls varsity soccer team has ended their season with a record in the regular season of 6-6-2. Though it was pretty even in the amount of wins and losses, the outcome didn’t always show heart, hard work, and dedication. The season came to a close when the team lost to Milton 2-0 in the first round of division two playoffs. They were able to earn a home playoff game, finishing as the eight seed out of 15 in the bracket. Other accomplishments included tying Harwood 0-0 in double overtime, whom they lost to 6-0 last year. They were able to hold Stowe, ranked first in division three, to 2-0, and go into double overtime with two other teams, showcasing grit and hard work all the way through. With just moving up to division two this year, this team has displayed perseverance and positivity, always cheering for one another on the field and smiling off of it. Avery Hansen, the team’s leading scorer, put the season like this, “Though it didn’t have the best outcome, this team has been my favorite.” Despite the season not ending in the most ideal way, this season, and the girls that were a part of it, was great.
