Loy Krathong Festival

Loy Krathong is a Thai Festival. It is the full moon of the 12th Thai month mostly in November. In 2022, It is on November 8. We bring flowers, incense, candles or other objects that are put into various non-drowned artifacts such as Krathongs, boats, etc., and floated along the river. Before floating their Krathong, Thai people add a lock of hair, sometimes even a fingernail cutting, as a symbolic cleansing, and a few coins to encourage prosperity. With purpose and different beliefs. This festival is not only celebrated in Thailand, but in China, India, Cambodia, Laos, Burma, and nearby countries. There is a floating Krathong similar to our country, but there are some differences like some details, rituals and beliefs in each locality. Many Thai people use Krathong to thank the goddess of water, Phra Mae Khongkha or to worship the Buddha’s hair pagoda in heaven. In some places such as schools, there is a contest for making krathongs or have students dress up in Thai national costumes.

In the year when Covid-19 outbreak has made it impossible to go to Loy Krathong. Therefore, an online Loy Krathong was created. You can type a message and choose a variety of Krathong styles.
