Colored Hair

Colored+Hair

I love colored hair. Not a certain color of hair, just colored hair.  The many bright colors and patterns you can do are pretty cool. There’s no end to the options. You can do it at home or go to a hair stylist, and get different results. It’s all about what you want to do with your hair. It’s all about going with how you want to look and expressing it in an outwards way. Trial and error.

My hair dying experience started when I got lice and my mom heard hair dye kills them. This was when I was about 12 or 13. Since then I’ve been experimenting with what I like best. I started out with more natural colors, like different shades of browns because I’m a natural brunette. Then when I was around 15, I decided to try more bright colors, neon almost.

I didn’t really know where I wanted to go with it, because neon was new to me and I didn’t want to completely damage my hair. I went with red, not my favorite, but when it faded to pink, that started my pink hair obsession. I think you could call it an obsession because I always wanted to go back to it. After every color, I liked pink the most and would get upset at my appearance after a couple weeks when I didn’t have the pink. I kept pink for around a year before I decided to experiment with new colors, but every time I dye it a different color, I miss the pink.

When I moved out of my house for a year, I went crazy with my hair and bleached it four times in one week.  I had to chop a lot of it off after that. I don’t regret it though.  I prefer short hair on myself.

Dying my hair has been pretty important with how I see myself and how others recognize me. Some of my friends have never even seen my natural hair color. I know it’s probably a phase for now, but I really like my dyed hair, and it’s a huge part of expressing myself. As I get older, I’ll probably shift back into wearing it naturally, but for now I’ll continue to play with it and test different colors.

I give colored hair five stars.
