Northeast Rotary Music Festival

Northeast Rotary Music Festival

The Northeast Rotary Music Festival happened March 29-30, at North Country High School. This festival is for the entirety of district 2 in the state of Vermont which includes about 50 schools. Students had to audition for this festival and nine from Lake Region got in. The festival this year was dedicated to Bianca Mackay who graduated LR class of 2016. This festival is very special because not only is it the only District festival in the state of Vermont that has a sponsor, but it also allows students from our region to get to play music in a group much larger than the normal high school bands and with people from other schools that are not that far from theirs.

I was lucky enough to experience this festival for the second time and the music was challenging, and fun. The conductor was from the University of New-Hampshire and had wrote one of the pieces that was performed. The chorus conductor was a person who had gone to Ukraine in the past to find Romani music and an active researcher in that field.
