Indoor Track Meet at UVM

The Lake Region Indoor Track and Field team competed yesterday at the University of Vermont in their first meet of the season.  Both the boys and girls teams had excellent showings with a number of outstanding performances.

The girls team finished 2nd in their division, beating out 14 other teams. The boys, despite having only 5 athletes in attendance, finished 4th in their division, beating out 11 other teams.

Justin Young broke the school record in high jump to win the event with a height of 1.8 meters or 5 feet 10.75 inches.  He also competed in shot put, throwing a distance of 32 feet 3.5 inches and becoming the 7th best in Lake Region history.

Heather Alexander tied her personal record in the high jump to take 4th place with a height of 1.4 meters or 4 feet 7 inches.

Bella Hanover took 8th place in the long jump with a distance of 5.15 meters or 13 feet 7.5 inches.  She also took 8th in the 55m with a time of 8.14 seconds, making her the highest placing sophomore in the event.  Lastly, she competed in the 300m with a time of 53.00, making her the 10th fastest in Lake Region history.

9th grader, Dyion LaCourse, ran a time of 7.69 seconds for 55m to be the second fastest freshman in the event and established himself in the top 20 all-time performances in Lake Region history.  He also ran a time of 45.88 for the 300m, making him the 16th fastest Lake Region runner in history in that event.

Adler Lahar also ran the 300m, posting a time of 41.70 and becoming the 7th fastest 300m runner in Lake Region history.

9th grader Anna Whittemore became the 7th fastest 600m runner in Lake Region history with a time of 2:14.63.  She is now also the 3rd fastest 1500m runner in LR history with a time of 6:20.54.

Charlie Edlund put in a fantastic performance in both the 1500m and 1000m.  In the 1000m she ran a time of 3:57.82, making her the 7th fastest girl in the event in Lake Region history and in the 1500m she ran a time of 6:13.71 to become the 2nd fastest in Lake Region history.

Emma King ran a time of 4:33.71 in the 1000m to become the 18th fastest in Lake Region history.

Oscar Forsay and Ethan Gratton-Derbyshire both competed in the 1500m, running 5:13.74 and 5:25.27 respectively.  This places Oscar as the 5th fastest in Lake Region history and Ethan as the 8th fastest.  Oscar also threw the shot a distance of 25 feet 7 inches to become the 14th best in Lake Region history.

4 girls threw the shot, and all 4 established themselves in the top 20 performances in Lake Region history.  Brooklyn Hinton threw 25 feet 8.75 inches to become 6th best in LR history.  Sylvie Brownlow threw 24 feet 3.5 inches (she was already 5th best in history with a throw of 26 feet and a half inch).  Logan Lee threw a distance of 22 feet 9.25 inches to become 10th best in history.  Julia Gardner threw 17 feet 10.5 inches to become 16th best in LR history.

Mayah LaBounty, Sylvie Brownlow, Brooklyn Hinton, and Bella Hanover fought a tough race in the 4x200m relay and overcame a gap of 20m to win their heat.  They ran a time of 2:13.83 to be the 10th fastest 4x200m relay team in Lake Region history.
