The Shallot has grown a lot and needs more office space. As the editor I am very busy with both managing one of the largest non-partisan newspapers in the world and a full course load. The board of billionaires that control The Shallot has noticed that simply by having an office there you can get at least one administrative assistant. The addition of an administrative assistant paid for by the district makes sense for the finances of The Shallot.
The Shallot is by far one of the most influential organizations in the OCSU school district. We advise the school board as a whole and all people employed in the district on matters of personnel, facilities, school configuration, and most importantly budget considerations. With this new position we will be better able to send targeted emails, develop surveys, and ensure that people who have questions for The Shallot can have their questions answered.
The creation of this post could lead to an increase in taxpayer spending but the district has already figured out that by cutting four teaching positions they can add admin assistants with teaching licenses. Besides, increasing class sizes gives teachers the challenge they have been asking for. We used a consultant to project continued growth and will need to add an admin assistant with a teaching license to our staff in the COFEC building. There might not be enough space for some of the Pre-K program at COFEC and those students will simply be bussed a short distance to the Albany Pre-K.
